Errors or just being plain dumb are infuriating but it seems 'literary' anachronisms (such as Barker's) are now actively encouraged. It's a while since I threw a new book in the bin over basic errors – these days I just 'tut' and move on. Probably because I've made some howlers too...
I’m all for some breaking of grammar rules but the anachronisms..? I’ve been known to shout rude things at absent historical authors.
