Happy New Year, although it hasn't happened for me yet.

Must confess I've only seen wolves in captivity (and half-wolves under control), but wild coyotes a' plenty. Nearly hit one with my car in a canyon in the middle of Los Angeles one night, and had a friend out east of it who had to make sure their Yorkie was in after dark, lest it become a snack. Particularly when one lovely spring night we were in the pool after dinner and heard two close by growling and snarling. Even worse when we found out the next day a neighbor's dog was... not inside that night. The Yorkie got brought in BEFORE dark after that, much to his displeasure!

They're canny like wolves, though. Except for Wile E with his orders from ACME. :)

Roadrunners are that saucy, however. My mother had a roadrunner pal who went beside her every day on her morning walk, because we large slow clumsy apes kick up prey. They eat spiders, snakes, and other vermin, so are very welcome. And it's so cheerful to have a bird walking with you; he decided I was worthy when I walked with her on a visit, after cocking his head and looking me in the eye.

Love the roadrunner story – nature gives us so many companions if we’re patient enough. We have a pair of crows called Punch and Judy but we know they can be mean to other birds and animals. I’m trying to keep Bratir the Wolf in all three books :-)

And as I was just offered 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for 99c, I've borrowed the books of yours I didn't have!

(Still not midnight here yet.)

Finally happened, only a few more inhabited time zones to go.

The neighbors seem to have run out of fireworks, so it's safe to go to bed.
